At Tilburg University I worked on a project that sought to build an Intelligent Virtual Agent (IVA) that is realistic. IVAs are artificial entities capable of behaving socially and engaging in natural conversations with humans. Using behavioral and neuroscience methods I studied how humans understand IVA faces, and their facial expressions.
We are both originally from Lithuania, but we met in the Netherlands upon starting our PhD projects. In addition to interest in research and technology, we share love for reading books, participating in pub quizzes, and eating a piece of good chocolate.

In my PhD project, we have made an app for people who are scared of needles and blood that relies on the image and infrared thermal image analysis, and machine learning techniques. We aim to predict the needle fear before people are aware of it and then use the technique called biofeedback to help people reduce their stress level. You can find our first prototype of the game at www.ainar.io.
